Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. Do the Hijama incisions hurt? .... No, it feels more like a scratch with a nail. If you have a very sensitive skin, you might feel a little uncomfortable. Anyway, Hijama incisions are very shallow and do not cause pain.

 

2. How many cups do I need to apply? .... If you haven't had Hijama done before, not more than 4 cups will be administered on the first session. For further sessions it depends what you are suffering from. 

 

3. How many sessions to I need? .... This depends on the disease and how long you are suffering from it. For chronic diseases you will most probably need more treatment sessions. 

 

4. Do I have to prepare for Hijama? .... Yes, you are not allowed to eat and drink 2,5 to 3 hours before the session as Hijama has to be performed on an empty stomach. You should be in Wudhu and it's Sunnah to have ghusl (bath) before Hijama. 

 

5. Is there any aftercare? .... Yes, you firstly should have a proper meal after the treatment. Secondly you should take rest and don't physically over exert yourself. Don't shower for at least 24 hours after the treatment. Drink lots of water and herbal teas. Don't engage in marital relations for 24 hours after Hijama. Keep applying black seed oil on the incisions if irritation occurs.

 

6. Does Hijama have any side effect? .... No. Only the incisions will need a few days to heal. 

 

7. From what age can Hijama be administered? .... From age 3. In serious cases even earlier.
